Transport Well is calling for a Smarter Way Forward
In an ever-shifting world, change is inevitable. In a bid to protect and enhance the future of a growing portfolio of transport industry inspired safety and inclusion initiative, the Truck Well NZ Charitable trust has been established to independently promote and operate these key programmes.
By moving them away from a trade association to an independent body, there is no longer impediments to the adoption of these initiatives by other bodies involved with or supporting the transport industry the trustees say.
Placing Harm Free Transport Logistics, TruckSafe, Road Safety Truck, Transport Women and Careers Trucking should make safety, inclusion and career opportunities open to everyone whether professional transport operations or business running trucks as a necessary element of the nationwide supply chain. This means some 29,000 TSL holders can now be supported by these initiatives.
A key example is TruckSafe a fully New Zealand compliant version of the non-for-profit programme started in Australia in 1996. TruckSafe represents a step change for the industry having already meet or exceeded similar industry-based H&S systems. Rather than being a tick box option, TruckSafe Certified can be used to minimise inductions, duplications, and wasted hours. A professional local auditor has reviewed every system to ensure confidence and peace of mind for all clients.
As a unified independent voice, without agendas or politics, the trusts goal is to offer a forward-thinking approach that helps people improve safety and efficiency. The trust is currently looking for passionate people to sit on the Steering Group to drive the charity’s direction.
